Representatives from the European Commission, the French region of Rhône-Alpes and the Greek region of Epirus also took part in the event. The conference presented the main results of the European project “ICS PYMES and cooperative economics for local development” in which cooperative organisations from Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and Greece participated.

The project is seeking to establish a common transnational strategy, which promotes consortia, the internationalisation and innovation of cooperative enterprises and enterprises belonging to their workers in the Mediterranean region.

Over 150 cooperatives were involved in the project and a new European association of cooperatives has been created called Medcoop.

It will mainly be a laboratory of projects and work tools capable of anticipating and helping these enterprises in the active management of change.
