European Network of Cities and Regions for the Social Economy

Partnership between local authorities and the social economy is the basis of REVES’ identity. This European network brings together local authorities and social economy actors which have decided to work together for the sustainable and high quality development of their regions, for the achievement of social justice, for the democratic participation of citizens, for job creation and to fight against social exclusion.

Officially created in September 1997 as an international non profit association, with the constitutive act of Genoa, the network was born by the intuition of a group of cities, as Östersund (Sweden) and Reggio Calabria (Italy) and CECOP. Through an activity closely linked to the European Union policies and deeply concerned by local development dynamics, REVES has worked and works as an unrepeatable laboratory, in a position to supply cues, to have an influence on decisions at European level and also to orient local development policies.

Social Platform

Social Platform aisbl is the largest civil society alliance fighting for social justice and participatory democracy in Europe.

Consisting of 46 pan-European networks of NGOs, Social Platform campaigns to ensure that EU policies are developed in partnership with the people they affect, respecting fundamental rights, promoting solidarity and improving lives.

Social Economy Europe

Social Economy Europe was created in November 2000 with the purpose of establishing a permanent dialogue between the social economy and the European Institutions. Social Economy Europe members are the European organisations of industrial and service cooperatives, mutual and cooperative insurers, non-profit healthcare players, health mutuals and health insurance funds; foundations, associations of general interest, work integration social enterprises, paritarian institutions of social protection, ethical banks and financiers, and the European Cities and Regions for the social economy. At national level, SEE represents the national social economy organisations of France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Belgium.
