How to become a member

Conditions for admission:

According to the CECOP statutes - article 3 / Members: The association is composed of full members and associated members.

Can become members:

A. As full members: National organisations, legally constituted according to the laws and practices of their home country, existing in Europe, representatives at national level for workers’ cooperatives, social cooperatives and all the other forms of social enterprises caracterised by a majority participation of the workers in the management and ownership of the enterprise, as well as any other type of cooperatives in conformity with art. 1.3. of the CICOPA rules and with the definition of CICOPA mentioned in Art. VI of the ICA rules; European organisations, representing at European level professional federations or enterprises belonging to the categories listed above, European groups, European Co-operatives Societies (ECS) belonging to the categories of enterprises listed above.

B. As associated members: The regional organisations of the enterprises under category A; can also be associated members development agencies, technical and financial support organisations to enterprises of category A, vocational training federations as well as European social and solidaritybased economy networks.

Required documents:

As defined in the CECOP standing orders, the request of affiliation to Cecop is introduced on the basis of an application file to the Board represented by the president.

This file will include :

- a motivation letter signed by the president of the candidate organisation and certifying that its general assembly - or the corresponding body - wishes to adhere to Cecop.

- a declaration in which it recognizes to have read the statutes of Cecop, its internal rules and the mode of calculation of the membership fees.

- a copy of its statutes

- its last annual activity report and, in the case of a new organisation, its founding statement

- the name and the fonction of their representatives

- a file presenting all the elements allowing to calculate the amount of membership fees that the organisation will have to pay.

Compulsory CICOPA affiliation

As stipulated in Article1 of its statutes, “CECOP - CICOPA-Europe is the European Regional Organisation of CICOPA, International Organisation of Industrial, Artisanal and Service Producers’ Cooperatives, sectoral organisation of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA).”

Article 4. A) of the same statutes further stipulates that “The admission of new members (…) is subject to acceptance of these Statutes and of the CICOPA rules.”
